Chinese New Year in Singapore…..

Chinese New Year

I was so lucky being in Singapore for Chinese New Year, and this year it’s the Year of the Horse.  I’m only used to seeing a little bit of Chinese New Year when I happen to be near Gerrard Street in London but this was on another level.  It’s a riot of red and gold, with beautiful hanging lanterns lit up and the streets come alive with thousands of people milling about in Pagoda Street, buying fabulous decorations for the home, and of course, the little red packets to fill with money for the children. Even the hotels and office buildings put up little trees with tangerines hanging from them and apparently the Chinese words for Tangerine and Orange mean luck and wealth.
