Death by Chocolate in Luxembourg City….!
If you’re wandering around Luxembourg doing a bit of sightseeing, you are eventually going to come across this gorgeous little coffee shop called the Chocolate House, in the old part of the City.
The Chocolate House
It looked so warm and inviting, with its beautiful pink flower arrangements in giant silver urns that line the entry way into the shop, and there are cosy sheepskin seat covers and red blankets to wrap yourself in to keep warm outside.

It’s a really popular coffee shop and every seat was taken so I had to pass it three or four times before I eventually saw an empty seat that someone had vacated and could actually sit down … I was determined to get a seat outside!
The Chocolate House Exterior
The Chocolate House is right opposite the Grand Ducal Palace, where the Luxembourg Royals reside, and while you’re sitting there relaxing, you can watch the Guards on duty.

The Chocolate House is not only a café, but also a fully functioning restaurant, but I was only there for the chocolate and cake! Their speciality, and what they are famous for, is the Chocospoon.
The concept is really simple; you pick your favourite Chocospoon from their extensive range from the shelves in the shop; (there are over 40 flavours to choose from, for example, Baileys, ginger, pistachio, nougat, cappuccino, etc, etc)……
….then they bring you a big cup of hot milk and you drop in the Chocospoon and like magic you have an incredibly good Hot Chocolate.
Making your Hot Chocolate
And to go with the Hot Chocolate, there are massive chocolate gateaux, tortes and domed layer cakes, several storeys high…
And if you’re ordering a piece of cake, you might want to share as the cake slices are enormous!
Hard to Resist!
A slice of Heaven!
Giant Slices of Cake
As well as the Chocospoons, there are plenty of other chocolately delights to buy in the shop. I was in Luxembourg just before Easter so there was a fabulous display of Easter eggs, bunnies and chocolate bon bons…..

I also saw the Chocospoons for sale at Luxembourg Airport, however the selection was smaller, so if you want to take some home, make sure you buy them in the shop!
